"If I had to send out over 500 emails about A+ Gives Day, I probably wouldn't have hair," jokes Gray, who has been with the credit union for over 35 years. The switch to SignUpGenius has changed how A+ Federal Credit Union runs its volunteer programs, especially its annual A+ Gives Day. On this special day, held on every Indigenous Peoples' Day, all 525 employees have the opportunity to serve their community together.
Beyond their big day of service, the credit union keeps giving back year-round. Last year, 193 employees volunteered at various events throughout the year. Using SignUpGenius, Gray created simple online sign up pages where employees can easily find and join activities that interest them. "It made everything so much more straightforward," explains Gray. "Employees can see all the park cleanup opportunities and choose what's near them or decide if they want to be inside in the AC since it's still hot in October in Texas."
What began as a simple way to manage sign ups has become essential to running their community service program. Employees can sign up from their phones, get automatic reminders, and easily find volunteer opportunities. Gray loves that she can copy previous sign up pages and check attendance right from her phone during events. "For the money, it was a good investment because it was easy to use, cost-effective, and many of our people already knew how to use it," says Gray.
The results speak for themselves - at their recent annual meeting, A+ Federal Credit Union announced that their community giving, including volunteer time and donations, totaled over $5 million. "When we started putting all the data together, it was eye-opening even to us," Gray reflects. "That was one thing we never did well before – showing others how much we do in our communities."
